West High School is the oldest high school in the state of Utah. It was founded in 1890, and it is part of the Salt Lake City School District. It is ranked #1 high school in the state of Utah and #163 in the nation according to Newsweek Magazine.[1] Its original name was Salt Lake High. The school colors are red and black and the school mascot is a panther.

The West High Alumni Association was created in 1988 in order to meet the following two objectives:
Our program is intended to help preserve West High School heritage, foster a positive image, and honor alumni who have gone on to make West High and this community proud.
A major part of our program is to provide a scholarship fund for the further education of deserving, graduating seniors.
